American carmaker Ford unveiled the fourth-generation model of its most popular pickup, the Ranger, back in November 2021. The Ranger is one of Ford’s best-selling pickups worldwide, and the next-generation Ranger includes new powertrains, a dramatic new exterior design that references the bigger Ford F-150 pickup and Bronco SUVs, and a fully redesigned cabin. The forthcoming Ranger is going to hit the global markets by the end of 2022.
In terms of design and styling, the new-gen Ranger gets a wider radiator grille with a horizontal bar that integrates the Ford emblem and runs across the front to the new “C-clamp” daytime running lights. The front bumper has a strong, bull bar-like trim, silver skid plates with tow hook provisions, and blacked-out fog light surrounds.
The redesigned tailgate has the Ranger name engraved onto the metal, and the sides have somewhat more prominent wheel arches with an integrated step on either side of the bumper to aid access into the bed.
The new Ford Ranger’s interior has also been overhauled with a new appearance. It now gets a 10-inch or 12-inch infotainment touchscreen depending on trim, vertical AC vents, and a fully digital instrument console that offers information including driveline, steering angle, roll angles, vehicle pitch, and more.
Ford has also improved the load bed with additional clamps incorporated into the tailgate, creating a mobile workbench for holding materials for cutting.
The present 2.0-litre diesel engine from the previous model has been continued, with just minor architectural changes for cooling. There will be two single-turbocharged versions and one twin-turbocharged version, with power numbers to be revealed.
A new 3.0-litre diesel V6 has also been added to the lineup, though official details have yet to be released. In addition, the brand has also announced that the new Ranger will be available with an electric drivetrain, however, no additional information on specifications or a timescale has been provided.
Speaking about the 2023 Ford Ranger’s launch in our country, the company has stopped manufacturing cars in India but it has also stated that they can sell the products in our country via the CBU route, hence we can expect it to enter the Indian car market in future.
