Ford Freestyle has been officially unveiled for the Indian market through a media event. The car is actually based on Figo hatchback but to be precise, the changes seen here for the first time will also come on 2018 Ford Figo in India.
As Ford has willingly delayed the entry of 2018 Figo, Freestyle was first introduced to get an idea on how fans will react to their new design language. Also, this a global product that was first seen at an Indian event.
Redesigned headlights, all-new bumper design and serious looking front fascia makes the fact sure that refreshed Ford lineup will make everyone feel good in 2018.
Power on the new Ford Freestyle comes from 1.2L Dragon petrol engine producing 96 HP and 115 Nm of torque. The engine here is 3-cylinder unit with 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
Visually, buyers will get roof rails, body side cladding, front and rear bumper cladding, all-new alloy wheels and all-black front Ford signature grill. Ford will also offer Freestyle with tried-and-tested 1.5 litre 100 HP diesel engine.
Interior of Freestyle is highly inspired from EcoSport theme as it clearly leaves behind the Figo’s dual tone, uniquely shaped center section. Ford offers – inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on the new Freestyle.
As Ford Freestyle rivals crossover options like Hyundai i20 Active, Fiat Urban Cross and Toyota Liva Cross in India, it has more chances of success through an effective placement in Ford India’s lineup.
Ford will offer a 6-airbag top spec variant for sure and that will help them place it more effectively against standard hatchback options like Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and many others.
Staying true to its name, Freestyle comes with 15mm of increased ground clearance, lighter steering and wider track than a standard Figo. Expected starting price for Freestyle could vary between INR 5.40-5.60 lakh.
