According to the recent reports, the China-spec Ford Territory SUV is all set to be launched in the LATAM (LATin AMerica) markets in 2020. Initially unveiled at the Sao Paulo Motor Show, the SUV has managed to grab the attention of major buyers thus, the brand plans to expand its reach to more customers across the globe. The reports also suggest that the SUV has been added to the Ford’s Brazil portfolio.
The SUV has been designed by the brand’s Chinese arm in association with Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC). The brand christened it as the Yusheng S330 initially though the authentic Ford styling with a larger front grille as well as Ford badging made the brand to refer it as Ford Territory. Based on the underpinnings of LandWind X7, the SUV measures 4,580mm in length, 1,936mm in width and 1,674mm in height.
Powering the Ford Territory (Yusheng S300) in China is a 1.5 litre EcoBoost 145 petrol engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 142 HP and a peak torque of 225 Nm. The engine is mated to a CVT gearbox. The brand also offers the SUV with a hybrid powertrain as well as an EV variant. There has been no confirmation if the same engine specs will be used for the Ford Territory expected to launch in Brazil and Argentina.
Some of the premium bits offered to the SUV includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system in addition to wireless charging port as well as a 360-degree parking camera. In addition to this, the brand has equipped the Ford Territory with FordPass Connect embedded modem and premium safety plus comfort features.
Next in line after Brazil and Argentina are the South American markets to get the Ford Territory SUV. The reports suggest that the brand will unveil it at the ‘Rock In Rio’ festival in September before launching it in South America. If the brand decides to bring the same in the Indian market, the SUV will compete with the likes of MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV500, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta.
