New Ford Kuga has been officially revealed by the brand, keeping its focus intact on the Creta-rivaling segment for most global markets. The new Kuga comes with sporty exterior and without missing their iconic fog lamp garnish, Ford has got the balanced front grille for even more elegant look. The front lights are slightly stretched back while rear comes with a sport-SUV finish. Ford plans to take the market by storm as every third car sold in the European market is an SUV and Ford wants to be a part of this league.
The hybrid options impress more buyers in such market and that why they are offering the car with a 2.5L petrol engine with an electric motor to produce 225 HP of combined output. The pure electric range of the model is 54 km. Those who don’t need a full hybrid system can go for the 150 HP 2.0L diesel engine that comes with an electric motor that needs no charging time as the petrol one. As 2WD and 4WD are options on the new Ford Kuga, buyers can also choose regular 1.5L petrol and 2.0L diesel engine.
These engines can either be had with a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The boxy feel of the last generation model is gone with the update as the new Kuga looks sporty, refreshing and full of potential for multiple customer types. The styling is inspired from the Focus range of cars while size takes the new Ford Kuga to a new level. For India, they can consider offering the 2.0L diesel engine to rival the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier while a smaller engine will help them target the new Creta and other cars of this segment. The price range will start above INR 12 lakh for sure.
