Honda CR-V enters into its fifth generation as Honda recently unveiled the 2017 model for their popular SUV in Detroit, North America. The car now seems to be inspired from the current range of Honda products like Civic, carrying even some bits from its luxury division Acura. Honda claims that they have sold 4 million CR-V’s in America from its launch in 1997. The car has grown in all aspects, using LED headlights, Solid Wing front grill and even Active shutter grill for lower aerodynamic drag.
Honda has added few bits of luxury through remote engine start, power operated tailgate, LED taillights, 17 inch infotainment system and even a completely new dashboard with soft touch panels. The gear lever has been integrated into the dashboard itself. Some important features on the car includes dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, electric parking brake, heated ORVM’s and rear USB charging points. It even gets an 8-way power adjustable driver seat.
The engine lineup on the new Honda CR-V includes an all new 1.5 L turbocharged petrol engine, first time on CR-V in around last 2 decades. It produces 187 BHP and 243 Nm of torque. Downsizing brings lesser emissions from the CR-V while the base variant will still use the old 2.4 L, naturally aspirated motor producing 181 BHP and 244 Nm of torque. The car will come equipped with a CVT on both the engines.
