2017 Honda City collected over 5000 bookings before its official launch yesterday. The number is for the last 12 days and around 70 percent is made for the petrol variant. The bookings started on February 3, 2017 for an amount of INR 21000 while the car was launched recently for INR 8.49 lakh (starting price, ex-showroom Delhi). The car gets LED headlights, new bumpers and a revised grill, making it feel more upmarket in its 2017 version. Honda even offers Modern Steel Metallic shade on the updated version.
5000 Units of 2017 Honda City Booked in 12 Days
Last few months saw a decline in the sales of Honda City as the car was unable to fetch over 3500 units every month. The facelift will help buyers how more consideration into the new City as Maruti Ciaz is now known to clock more than 5000 units from last few months. In January. Honda sold a total of 6355 units, which could further increase in the coming months. The new model saw a marginal hike in prices. Honda City now gains more equipment on the new version.
Speaking on the launch, Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO, Honda Cars India said, “The Honda City has been our most successful model in the country. It has brought joy to over 6.5 lakh customers across the country and has been India’s most successful sedan since its launch in 1998.”
2017 Honda City now comes with reverse parking camera, LED inner lights and 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines. The 1.5 liter, 4-cylinder petrol motor is good for 117.3 BHP and 145 Nm of torque. It comes mated to 5-speed manual gearbox and offers CVT as an option. The diesel engine is good for 98.6 BHP and 200 Nm of torque. It comes mated to 6-speed gearbox. The car comes with a certified mileage of 25.6 kmpl for the diesel engine.
