All-New Honda City to Reportedly Make Debut in November 2019

In the fourth quarter of 2019, a lot of new launches will be re-energising the auto industry and one of them is the fifth generation of the Honda City. Earlier, the C-segment sedan was also spotted testing in Thailand as well as in India. It is being speculated that the all-new Honda City will be showcased at an event in Thailand much prior to the 2019 Thai Motor Expo that will start on November 24, 2019.

Although the Japanese carmaker has stuck to the size of the sedan yet it will get a few changes like the upcoming car’s Thai-spec model will be unveiled with a 1.0-litre VTEC turbo-petrol engine that will be teamed with a 6-speed MT or CVT gearbox. The engine is expected to offer a peak torque of 200 Nm.

The hybrid variant of the all-new Honda City will be having an i-MMD system that uses a 1.5-litre iVTEC petrol engine and two electric motors. The i-MMD system is capable to combine a high-efficiency system to dramatically increase the distance by the motor alone, without even starting the engine.

The front fascia of the next-generation Honda City has been entirely redesigned as it has got new headlamps, new front bumper, a bit wider grille and a comparatively bigger Honda logo. In accordance with the spy shots, we found out that it draws a lot of similarities with the tenth-generation model of the Honda Accord.

Towards the inside, a completely new design is expected. The sedan will get a setup that has been designed for the user’s comfort and convenience with features like wireless charging, new touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a lot of connected car solutions.

The India-spec model is expected to be equipped with a BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol as well as 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engines. Both the engine options will be teamed with a 5-speed and a 6-speed manual transmission respectively. Reports have been touring that Honda may also bring a fully-hybrid version to the Indian market although nothing has been officially announced yet.
