As per the latest buzz, the much-awaited 2020 Hyundai Creta has been able to bag 10,000+ bookings in just 9 days. The brand started accepting the pre-bookings for the SUV in India on March 2, 2020, with a token amount of INR 25,000. The new-gen Hyundai Creta will launch in the Indian market on March 17, 2020, while the deliveries are expected to commence in the first week of April. The SUV will be offered in a total of five trims – E, EX, S, SX, and SX (O), which will be further available with three engine options.
In terms of the design, the 2020 model of the SUV features a redesigned cascading front grille while the old headlight cluster has been replaced with split LED units which now imparts it an uncanny look at the front though one can get used to it. The flared wheel arches offered to the updated SUV accentuates its overall sporty look while the addition of new alloy wheels enhances its new-gen design language.
The 2020 Hyundai Creta has been equipped with a unique LED taillight setup while the rear windshield integrates neatly below the roof spoiler. The brand has equipped the updated SUV with prominent body accents that impart it with a futuristic look.
Comparing the interior of the 2020 model of Creta with its Chinese sibling, the Hyundai ix25, the India-bound SUV has been offered a completely different outlook when compared to the latter though the exterior profile remains almost similar.
The brand has equipped the second-gen Creta with a black colour scheme inside the cabin that is carried not only to the dashboard but to the premium leather seats also. In addition to this, the seats have been adorned with criss-cross diamond stitching inspired from the ix25.
The SUV has been equipped with a leather-clad steering wheel design that is similar to one offered to the Hyundai Sonata and features the audio, calling, menu navigation, and cruise control buttons. The SUV features a 7.0-inch instrument console which will be offered as a fully-digital unit in the top-spec variants.
The brand will offer paddle shifters with the automatic variant of the SUV while the manual gearbox option will be available with a remote engine start system. The top-spec variant of the 2020 Hyundai Creta is expected to get disc brakes at the rear as well while the customers will be able to operate the SUV in multiple riding modes.
The top-spec versions of the Creta will also come equipped with a smart panoramic sunroof which can be enabled via voice command while the cabin will be equipped with an air purifier as well as ambient lighting.
For enhanced comfort, the brand has equipped the SUV with a cooled glovebox, LED reading lamps, reclining seats, rear window sunshades and more. The SUV further features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment landscape display as well as an 8-speaker Bose sound system. The brand has equipped the second-gen Creta with Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology that offers riding aids and is currently present in the Hyundai Venue.
Mechanically, the all-new 2020 Hyundai Creta will now available in the market with three BS6-compliant engine options. In terms of performance, the 1.5-litre petrol engine will be capable of offering maximum power of 115HP and 144Nm of peak torque, the 1.5-litre VGT diesel will be good for 115HP of power and 250Nm of utmost torque and lastly, the 1.4-litre Turbo GDI petrol engine will be offering 140HP of power and 242Nm of peak torque.
All the engine variants will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox while the customers can further avail the 6-speed AT with 1.5-litre VGT diesel engine, an IVT gearbox with the 1.5-litre petrol engine, and a 7-speed DCT with the 1.4-litre Turbo GDI petrol version of the SUV.
The price range for the 2020 Hyundai Creta will be revealed at the time of the official launch next month. Once launched in India, the updated SUV will compete in the market with the likes of Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500.
