According to a recent report from IAB, the upcoming 2020 Hyundai i20 will feature an all-digital instrument panel in addition to getting a host of various other premium features. The next makeover offered to one of the most desired hatchbacks in the country will feature the same digital console as seen on the Hyundai ix25, which will launch in India as the 2020 Hyundai Creta.
Coming to the design, the brand will equip the hatchback with a twin-pod instrument panel with a MID unit in the centre. The same digital console will also be seen on the next-gen Hyundai Verna, which is expected to launch in the Indian market by April 2020. In addition to this, the brand has also equipped the third-gen i20 with a BlueLink connected-car technology, which made its debut on the Hyundai Venue compact SUV.
As far as the other updates are considered, the brand will be offering the 2020 Hyundai i20 with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The regular convenience features equipped on the current-gen hatchback including the automatic climate control, rear AC vents, six airbags as standard, rear and front armrests, as well as wireless charging support, will be carried forward.
Coming to the mechanical changes, the all-new third-gen 2020 Hyundai i20 will feature BS6-compliant engines. In addition to offering the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine currently available with the hatchback, the brand is also expected to offer the 1.5-litre diesel unit inspired by the Kia Seltos. The 1.2-litre petrol engine will be further equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the latter is expected to get a 6-speed manual transmission.
Apart from this, the brand is also expected to offer the 1.0-litre T-GDI engine with the 2020 Hyundai i20, which is already available in the international markets. One can expect the brand to launch the third-gen version of the hatchback in the early months of next year.
