According to recent reports, the 2020 Hyundai Palisade, the huge 7-seater SUV has been awarded a 5-star rating in the US NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) crash test. Both the 4WD and AWD variants of the crossover have been able to score 5 points in the front as well as side crash category.
Apart from this, the SUV has been able to score the highest points among its competitors in the tests organised by NHTSA (National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration). The flagship SUV from the brand that is currently available in the international markets has been equipped with a splendid safety package that makes it stand on top of the brand’s portfolio when it comes to ensuring safety.
The brand has equipped the Palisade with a forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, safe exit assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, rear occupant alert, high beam assist and smart cruise control, driver attention warning and more. The brand has further equipped the SUV with seven airbags as standard for the utmost safety in case of an accident.

The Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) system that has been offered as a feature with the Palisade is one of the most interesting ways of ensuring the rear occupant’s safety. The system alerts the driver in case of any suspicious movement using the ultrasonic waves which further ensures that no kid or a pet is left behind in the rear seat even by a mistake. The system alerts the driver by honking or alerting via the Blue Link connected car technology.
The safe exit feature on the SUV is further used for alerting the occupants of the incoming traffic whenever they are about to open the door. Even if the driver tries to deactivate the Electronic Child Safety Lock feature, the safe exit feature will override the command to ensure that the door is closed till the surrounding is without incoming traffic and ensures utmost safety for the kids.
Powering the 2020 Hyundai Palisade is a 3.8-litre NA V6 GDi petrol engine that is capable of offering 291HP and 355Nm. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. At present, the MY2020 variant of the Palisade shares its underpinnings with Kia Motor’s Telluride, both of which are not considered for the launch in Indian markets as of yet.
