Initially unveiled at the Chengdu Motor Show in China, the 2020 Hyundai Verna is expected to officially make debut in India at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020, which is all set to take place in February next year. The brand has offered the updated sedan with a new design language in addition to various other premium bits. The new model of the Verna is expected to be available in the Indian market before the new emission norms commence in the country from April 1, 2020.
Coming to the radical design, the brand has offered the 2020 Hyundai Verna with a large trapezoidal grille upfront that complements the redesigned front bumper. The triple pod headlamp setup is further accentuated by large chrome slats while the brand has offered the sedan with a wider air intake at the front.
Coming to the rear profile, the sedan features redesigned LED taillamps mated to an LED strip running across the boot. In addition to this, the 2020 Hyundai Verna has been equipped with a bigger sunroof setup and a shark-fin antenna. The brand has equipped the updated sedan with new alloy wheels while the topmost variants are subjected to get a dual-tone paint scheme for the alloy wheels.
In terms of interior, the sedan has been equipped with Hyundai Elantra-inspired 8” touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The brand has equipped the new-gen Verna with Hyundai BlueLink connectivity in addition to offering other premium comfort features like ventilated seats, wireless charging, cruise control, automatic climate control and more. The sedan also features the standard safety kit in addition to additional safety features for the top-most variants.
The new model of the Verna measures 4,450mm in length, 1,720mm and height and 1,455mm in length while the wheelbase of the sedan stands at 2,600mm. Coming to the engine specifications, the 2020 Hyundai Verna will come with 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options, which will be BS6-compliant. The petrol engine will be good for a maximum power of 115HP and a peak torque of 144Nm while the diesel engine will be capable of generating a maximum power figure of 115 HP and the torque will stand at 250Nm.
The customers will be able to avail the petrol engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT gearbox while the diesel engine will come with 6-speed automatic or manual transmission. Once launched in India, the 2020 Hyundai Verna will compete in the market with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, Toyota Yaris, Honda City, and the Volkswagen Vento.
