Creta, the urban SUV from Hyundai has done its job well and gathered a record 1,00,000 bookings in a time span of just 8 months. The demand for the car boosted with the fact that diesel cars larger than 2000 cc got banned in Delhi and people started caring for the environment at the same time. Using bigger engines and SUV’s for daily commute adds up to the carbon footprint and Creta is light when it comes to this pollution department.
Hyundai has also stated that it will increase the total production in order to produce nearly 13,000 units every month. 10,000 will be kept for the country while 3,000 are expected to get exported to markets like Latin America, Middle East and Africa. Creta is currently available in 3 engine options namely 1.6 L petrol, 1.4 L diesel and 1.6 L diesel. Transmission options include 6-speed manual gearbox on every variant and a 6-speed automatic on the 1.6 L diesel engine in it’s second most expensive trim.
The compact nature of Creta has made it a superstar among other cars in it’s segment. It comes with reasonable dimensions measuring 4270 mm in length, 1780 mm in width and 1630 mm in height. The wheelbase of 2590 m in good for this 5 seat urban SUV.
