Hyundai Electric Scooter Prototype Officially Revealed

Hyundai can’t get enough of the appreciation that the Kia brand is getting from its customer base in India and yet again, the South Korean brand is all set to impress its customers with the introduction of its foldable electric scooter. Unlike the conventional design of electric scooters, it is stylish and has been designed for that last mile mobility purpose where usage of a car may seem illogical.

This innovative product from Hyundai was first showcased as an idea at the Consumer Electric Show organised in 2017, which has now been designed into an actual model. This last mile mobility vehicle is so compact in design that it can be mounted on the Hyundai and Kia cars. It can get charged using the electricity that is produced during the drives.

To ensure a smooth ride even on rough terrains, the electric scooter has been equipped with a suspension at the front. If we consider the concept model then it possessed a front-wheel-drive system whereas the production-spec model is equipped with a rear-wheel-drive system and thus is capable to provide an improved version of stability and also the overall aspect of the safety ensured by the vehicle.

This innovative electric kick scooter draws its power from a 10.5Ah lithium battery. The scooter is capable enough to cover a distance of 20km from a single charge. The e-scooter can achieve a top speed of 20 kmph while the overall weight stands at 7.7kg.

Nothing has been officially disclosed by the company’s side about when can the scooter be expected to hit the streets. The Head of the Hyundai Motor Group Robotics Team, Dongjin Hyun said in an interview, “This is the vehicle-mounted personal scooter which could be featured in future Hyundai Motor Group vehicles. We want to make our customers’ lives as easy and enjoyable as possible. Our personal electric scooter makes first- and last-mile commuting joy while helping to reduce congestion and emissions in city centres.”
