The much-awaited car by Hyundai, the Grand i10 Nios has been officially launched in India. The hatchback gets a starting price tag of INR 4.99 lakh for the petrol variant and INR 6.70 lakh for the diesel variant. The bookings for the car were started earlier with a token amount of INR 11,000 at Hyundai dealerships and on the official website of the brand.
The Grand i10 Nios is placed somewhere between Grand i10 and Elite i20. The company promises to offer more space, features and performance with the launch of i10 Nios. It is based on Hyundai’s latest design language and the all-new hatchback is also bigger in terms of dimensions when compared to the Grand i10.
Going by the looks of the car, it gets Santro-inspired design language with a cascading style grille at the front fascia and is accompanied by the stylish projector headlamps. There is an addition of unique LED DRLs at the edges of the front grille. The car also features aggressive-looking dual-tone alloy wheels.
Coming to the interior of the i10 Nios, it comes equipped with ivory-grey upholstery and a redesigned dashboard setup. For infotainment, the car gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen system. The instrument panel is also semi-digital. The car is spacious from the inside and gets plenty of storage spaces and cup holders. It also gets features like automatic climate control, power-adjustable ORVMs, and steering-mounted infotainment plus telephony controls.
Mechanically, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is equipped with the same diesel and petrol engines like that of the current i10 variants though, both the engines are now BSVI-compliant. The 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine is good enough to produce 83 HP of maximum power and 114 Nm of peak torque. The 1.2-litre U2 diesel engine produces 75 HP of maximum power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both the engine variants come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while there is also an option for AMT transmission.
