All-New Hyundai Kona Hybrid SUV Officially Revealed

Hyundai has officially launched the Kona hybrid in Europe. The SUV is one of the company’s proud products that has won several awards and is now being offered as a hybrid in the Dutch capital. The compact crossover SUV perfectly aligns with the expectations of its Europen customers as it has been provided with eco-mobility design.

The Hyundai Kona Hybrid also features a full hybrid powertrain and a range of improvised technology touch-ups that include Bluelink connectivity SmartSense active safety and driving assistance systems. The hybrid SUV is also equipped with smart features like a state-of-the-art infotainment system.

About the launch of the Kona hybrid, the Vice President of the Marketing and Product at Hyundai Motor Europe HQ, Andreas-Christoph Hofmann said, “Hyundai already offers the widest range of powertrains, and with the launch of the All-New Kona Hybrid we are offering our European customers even more choice when it comes to eco-friendly SUV models. In addition to its stylish design and efficient hybrid powertrain, customers can now also enjoy cutting-edge connectivity features.”

The new variant of the Hyundai Kona was succeeded by the previously launched product IONIQ. The hybrid has joined the prestigious Hyundai Kona family and the eco-mobility range. The Kona hybrid is packed with the Kappa 1.6-litre GDI, a direct-injection petrol four-cylinder engine providing a maximum power of 105HP and 147Nm of peak torque. The SUV’s permanent magnet synchronous electric motor generates a power of 43HP and a peak torque of 170Nm.

The all-new Hyundai Kona Hybrid draws its power from the 1.56 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery and delivers excellent performance during charge and discharge. It is also optimised to provide output from the high voltage battery to allow a rapid regeneration.

In total, the petrol engine and the electric motor generate power of 141HP and a peak torque of 265Nm, because of which the hybrid gives a dynamic driving experience. Some additional features of the hybrid include ECO-Driving Assist System, Coasting Guide and Predictive Energy Management. As of now, Hyundai has no plans to launch the Kona Hybrid in the Indian market.
