Hyundai Verna Petrol with 1.4-litre Engine Launched @ INR 7.79 lakh

Hyundai Verna Petrol with 1.4-litre Engine Launched: Hyundai recently launched the much awaited 1.4L petrol engine powered Verna for INR 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The variant is a replacement for base spec 1.6L petrol Verna as Hyundai will now offer the smaller engine in both E and EX variant. This makes the new 1.4L EX variant good for INR 9.09 lakh of price tag.

However, bigger engine is still available on the automatic EX variant. The reshuffle in engines could fetch more buyers who are mileage specific and need a full length sedan in tight budget. The difference in price from earlier sold E variant is just INR 20,000.

The sales volume of Verna in December 2017 dropped to one-third of what they were selling back in September 2017. The new 1.4L engine in Verna generates 100 HP and 132 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Company claimed mileage for the car is 19.1 kmpl, making it 8% higher than the bigger 1.6L petrol motor. This will result in overall decrease in running cost. For those who are planning the E variant, they have kept everything identical to the older version while buyers of the EX variant will get a big additional package as surprise.

Hyundai Verna 1.4 EX now comes with 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, cruise control, reverse parking sensors, fog lamps, height adjustable driver seat and automatic headlights. Hyundai may soon introduce the 1.4L diesel engine for this same effect.

They are expected to keep the variants identical for both engines and replacing the lower spec models with the 1.4L diesel engine would also be a great move. It will not just help buyers get more mileage but also bring strict competition to better placed sedans like Maruti Ciaz.
