Sales Milestone: Hyundai India has definitely grown a lot in the Indian market. By volume and popularity, it holds the number two position after Maruti Suzuki in India. Was everything very easy for them? Not so far as rivaling Maruti made them invest more and more in dealerships and services.
The fruit was not far away as Hyundai India has made its 5 millionth car in the form of all-new Verna for the Indian market. The number is rising with a sharp curve and demand for Hyundai cars has gone up by a large margin. The million game soon started with Hyundai Santro in 2007.
A decade after their first milestone, Hyundai India now has 4 million more cars built than this day 10 years back. That equates to almost 4 lakh cars every year and genuinely, it is a big number for South Korean manufacturer. It is to be seen how fast they reach their first ‘Crore or 10 Million’ mark.
Hyundai is one of the most dynamic brands in our country, switching models that were slow moving with present variants like Grand i10, i20 Elite and Creta. These three are the highest selling Hyundai products of all time.
Following them is Hyundai Verna, one of the most appealing sedan around its price tag. It has recently won the sales match from veteran Honda City and ‘once a hybrid’ Maruti Ciaz. Hyundai Verna is the most powerful petrol option of its segment, providing a huge 1.6L petrol motor through its base variant at INR 7,99,900.
The engine is good for 123 HP at 6400 rpm and 151 Nm at 4850 rpm. The engine comes with both manual as well as automatic gearbox option. The diesel engine is even impressive with 128 HP at 4000 rpm and 260 Nm at 1500-3000 rpm.
