Kia India is all set to announce the official price list of the Carens MPV tomorrow (February 15th, 2022). The three-row MPV was unveiled back in December 2021, and the company began accepting orders for the new model in January of this year.
As we previously reported, the SUV-like MPV has already begun to arrive at dealerships ahead of its official launch. The production of the upcoming Kia Carens has already commenced. As a matter of fact, Kia India rolled out the first Kia Carens from its futuristic manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, last month. In terms of pricing, we are expecting the upcoming MPV to get a starting ex-showroom price tag of around Rs 15 lakhs.
This forthcoming car features the Korean brand’s “Opposites United” design language, which seems to be heavily inspired by the premium international-spec Kia SUVs. Built on Kia’s sophisticated technology, the new Carens has a bold front fascia with the brand’s signature Tiger Face design. The new MPV gets LED headlights with LED DRLs, which are divided by a small grille and chrome trim, while the rear air intake also comes with ample chrome embellishment. On the side profile, it sports thick cladding for the wheel arcades.
Furthermore, Kia has used chrome to a great extent on the window line and doorknobs. The Kia Carens, which rides on dual-tone alloy wheels, also gets roof rails and a sharp front end design. It gets LED taillamps, a roof spoiler with a third brake light, a sizeable windscreen with a wiper, and a thick lining of chrome on the bumper. On the inside, this 2022 model MPV comes equipped with a digital instrument console, an 8-speaker BOSE sound system, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, puddle lamps for the rear doors, and an electric sunroof, to mention a few.
Speaking of the mechanical specifications, the Kia Carens will have three powertrain options. The first one is the 1.4-litre Smartstream petrol T-GDI engine, which is capable of churning out 140 PS and 242 Nm of torque. The second one is the 1.5-litre Smartstream petrol engine that produces 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque, while the third one is a 1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel engine that generates 115 PS and 250 Nm of torque. These engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT automatic, or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
