Kia India started the booking process for the all-new MPV, the Carens, a few days back, and the brand officially launched the car in the Indian markets on February 15, 2022. The Carens MPV is currently available in India at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 8.99 lakh while the price range goes up to Rs 16.99 lakh for the top-spec variant.
Prior to the pricing revelation, most people expected the Carens’ cost to be in the same ballpark as the Hyundai Alcazar. On the other hand, Kia India surprised everyone by keeping the prices competitive. Carens MPV demand has surged even more as a result of such competitive pricing and, according to the latest reports, the waiting period has reached 49 weeks, which is for the Prestige 6MT petrol 1.5 variant that costs Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Other variants’ waiting periods vary from 20 weeks to 32 weeks.
Speaking of the mechanical specifications, the Kia Carens has three powertrain options. The first one is the 1.4-litre Smartstream petrol T-GDI engine, which is capable of churning out 140 PS and 242 Nm of torque. The second one is the 1.5-litre Smartstream petrol engine that produces 115 PS and 144 Nm of torque, while the third one is a 1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel engine that generates 115 PS and 250 Nm of torque. These engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT automatic, or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
