Kia Xceed, the compact sporty crossover from the sister-brand of Hyundai, has been officially unveiled for the European market. The car is branded as a depiction of what consumers really desire from their product, showing impressively flowing lines and dynamic personality out of the compact segment.
Kia has a huge range of products for the European market, with many falling within the same size segment as the new Xceed but, this car brings more focus on designing and urban driving needs. The same looks more like a hatchback but in actual, the crossover traits are clear from the thin cladding and huge tires on offer.
The car has been designed in Frankfurt and Kia has kept the fact clear that no design lines from the roof area match to any of their existing cars. The front doors on the car are similar to their Ceed while the overall width is 26mm more in comparison to the hatchback.
The best part for Kia Xceed is the tail section, summing up like a Sportback model and still offering 2650mm of wheelbase for impressive rear seat legroom. The buyers can choose from regular 16-inch to special 18-inch wheels (with Continental SportContact 5 tires) on the model.
The use of 18-inch wheels brings 184mm of ground clearance while those getting the 16-inch tires will get 174mm of ground clearance with their car. The 42mm of more clearance than the Ceed hatchback further improves the stance of the crossover while Quantum Yellow shade is exclusive to the Xceed among all the Ceed-branded cars from Kia Motors. The car measures 4,395mm in length and offer 1,490mm of decent overall height.
The 426-litre boot space is highly practical while engine options include 1.0L turbocharged petrol with 120 HP and 1.4L with 140 HP. The 1.6L engine, bigger than all others, is good for 204 HP. The brand is offering 2 gearbox options: 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT automatic. As of now, Kia has not announced anything officially regarding the launch of Xceed in the Indian market.
