Luxury Car Sales in India in 2017: Mercedes Benz recorded the highest ever sales for India in 2017. Even after falling prey to GST regulations and rule change, the German luxury car maker was the most loved luxury brand of its segment last year.
2017 was an year of highs and lows for manufacturers. Introduction of GST was a positive move for these brands but soon after, amendments took back the price to a higher point.
Still, Mercedes Benz was good for 15,300 units of sale from January 1 to December 31, 2017. That roughly equates to 40 plus buyers everyday for the premium brand all over the country.
BMW Group stood second with 9800 units in 2017, which includes 9379 BMW cars and a very small number from Mini at 421 units. The closest third rank rival was Audi India, getting 7876 buyers in 2017 and losing some of its charm due to lack of products like Audi Q2.
Jaguar Land Rover was good for 3954 units in 2017 and claimed the fourth position. Volvo is rising good with 2029 units of sale during the same period. The growth of brands in India is marginal when compared to their actual presence in global markets but still, rising numbers promise them better results for the coming years.
Porsche India sold 435 units during 2017, clearly winning over all other sports car brands of India. The extensive range also includes performance spec SUVs for the country.
Mercedes-Benz India perfectly caters the need of premium car buyers as they have almost every possible car segment and engine option on their side. Mercedes-Benz has a petrol variant for every car. They are the fastest to introduce international spec change into the Indian models.
BMW has recently launched few new products that will benefit them in 2018. Audi India was once number one but now lost the title due to lack of user interest in some of their potential products.
