The 2020 Mahindra Roxor has been recently revealed by the brand for the North American markets. The Thar-based off-road utility vehicle from the brand has been equipped with various cosmetic changes as well as some additional features which add to its sturdy appeal altogether.
In 2018, Fiat Chrysler Automobile had filed a case against Mahindra with the allegations of copying their iconic boxy design as well as the similar hood and the front grille design. Mahindra lost the ‘Trade Dress’ US Lawsuit to FCA in November 2019.
As a result, the 2020 model of Roxor has been equipped with an updated front grille with honeycomb-patterned air intakes which replaces the vertical grille present on the last-gen variant that was inspired by Jeep. The headlights have been integrated inside the metal strip while the rest of the body panels remain the same.
Powering the recently updated off-roader is the 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel m2DiCR engine that is capable of generating maximum power of 62HP and a peak torque of 195Nm. The engine remains mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The MT gearbox option is now available in the North American markets at a price tag of $15,999 (INR 11.40 lakh, approx) while the AT model is now available at $16,999 (INR 12.10 lakh, approx). The top speed of the off-roader ranges at 88kmph which complies with the safety norms issued by the North American government.
The 16-inch alloy wheels on the 2020 Roxor are accompanied by disc brakes at the front while the rear has been equipped with a drum brake setup. The off-roader gets a 2-speed transfer case while the customers can now avail it in seven colour variants.
There has been no official information if the brand will be launching the 2020 Mahindra Roxor in the Indian market, though the chances remain to be thin. Mahindra is currently focusing on launching its updated 2020 Thar SUV in India in the coming months.
