BS6 Mahindra Scorpio Details Revealed: As per the official website of Mahindra, the brand has streamlined the Scorpio portfolio in the Indian markets with the announcement of the BS6-compliant model. The base S3 variant, that was available with the BS4 version of the SUV, is no longer the part of the updated MY2020 BS6 lineup.
In addition to this, the brand has also discontinued the 2.5-litre diesel engine and the 120HP version of the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The BS6 Mahindra Scorpio is listed on the official website in four trims namely S5, S7, S9, and S11. All of them are powered by the high-spec version of the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 140HP and a peak torque of 320Nm.
Apart from this, the brand has also discontinued the four-wheel-drive (4×4) Scorpio variants with the launch of the BS6 model. All the SUV trims have been mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard while the S5 variant features a 5-speed manual transmission.
The brand has revised the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with a catalytic reduction system to make it BS6 compliant. In addition to this, the engine has been equipped with a urea tank followed by a diesel particulate filter. All the three inclusions to make the engine BS6-compliant have been offered to the brand’s 1.5-litre diesel engine as well that currently powers the BS6 Mahindra Marazzo and XUV300.
Besides the addition of a BS6-compliant engine and streamlining the portfolio, the Mahindra Scorpio SUV has been kept cosmetically unaltered. The S5 entry-level trim continues to feature a 7-seat or 9-seat configuration with the most basic amenities and safety equipment like ABS, AC, dual front airbags, and rear parking sensors.
The fully-loaded S11 trim, on the other hand, gets a captain seat set up in the second row and features cruise control, faux leather upholstery, a reverse camera unit, alloy wheels and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit along with navigation.
The brand has not yet listed the prices of the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio at its official website as they have been facing delay in the production due to the nationwide lockdown to curb the coronavirus pandemic.
Here is the official notification displayed by the brand at the price tag page of the BS6-compliant Scorpio SUV: “Owing to the COVID-19 outbreak, there has been a delay in production due to which BS6 ready vehicles currently remain unavailable. We will be announcing the prices shortly. Thank you for bearing with us”.
