Mahindra Marazzo is the official name for much-awaited U321 MPV in India. The report was made official through an event, also revealing the fact that a launch event for the car will take place in September 2018. Mahindra will offer the Marazzo in seven and eight seat options.
Marazzo will not just replace the aging Xylo, it will also present itself as a premium option with more features than ever. The launch of TUV300 Plus helped them gain dominance over the affordable section of MPVs in India, leaving a huge empty stretch for their new product in the seven-figure segment.
Starting with KUV100, the range will soon finish at Rexton (XUV700), the most powerful Mahindra car ever. At present, they have Bolero, Thar, and TUV300 for sub-4m and Scorpio, XUV500 and TUV300 Plus for the full-length car segment.
Mahindra KUV100, NuvoSport, and Verito are the three least selling products in their lineup. Marazzo will be longer than Xylo, offering more luxury and legroom to passengers and challenging the likes of Innova Crysta up to some extent. Mahindra will offer projector headlights, vertical taillights, sporty alloy wheels and conventional front grill.
Marazzo is expected to use an all-new 1.6L, petrol and diesel engine, leaving fans guessing about the power values for their new motors. They can also use the old and reliable 2.2L engine with 140hp for the car, but it seems like a change in generation of engines is coming soon. Buyers will surely get the option of 6-speed AT gearbox with this car.
The 1.6L engine may not feel appropriate when the comparison of the Marazzo comes with Tata Hexa or Toyota Innova. Some compact SUVs use the same sized engine in India. The bigger 2.2L motor feels more suitable, keeping in mind that Innova offers up to 2.8L of diesel displacement for its buyers.
