Mahindra U321 MPV India Launch by April 2018

Mahindra U321 MPV Launch Update: Mahindra U321, the company code for upcoming premium MPV, will soon become a reality for the Indian buyers. A recent report in the automotive world claims that Mahindra could launch the U321 MPV in Q1 of 2018.

Although it seems more like a rumor, Mahindra is one of the quickest brand to bring new products in India. They are also working on a seven seat version of TUV300 in India. The new MPV would be a worthy replacement for Xylo and hence, U321 will definitely get a higher slot in the company lineup. It is expected to go against Toyota Innova Crysta in India.

If all this is true, the biggest surprising factor comes with the use of all new 1.6L, mFalcon engine on U321. They have co-developed the engine with Ssangyong. This motor is expected to bring 130 HP of maximum power to the rear wheels.

Premium MPV segment is growing fast and Mahindra has no other product than XUV500 in that segment. It comes under the SUV lineup and thus, a product into the slot would be highly appreciated by the Indian masses. The use of smaller engine (compared to Innova Crysta) actually drifts the same away from mainframe rivalry.

Still, adding luxury could help Mahindra fetch those buyers who are looking for more mileage and cannot compromise on interior comfort. Mahindra U321 will carry the iconic 7-slat front grille, LED daytime running lights, automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment and sound system.

A recent rendering by AutoCar India explains how Mahindra could use the new Monocoque frame to get the best out of every dimension. The car shown by them looks impressive and brings the premium MPV feel through its large windows and perfectly raked windshield. It could get a starting price of around INR 12 lakh in India.
