Mahindra XUV700 (2018 Rexton) Debut @ Auto Expo 2018

Mahindra XUV700 will soon be a reality at Auto Expo 2018. Mahindra will launch a re-badged version of 2018 Ssangyong Rexton as their flagship product this year. As the Auto Expo 2018 comes close, many manufacturers have already disclosed their plans for potential products.

Mahindra XUV700, the most probable name for 2018 Rexton, will rival none other than Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in this segment. Being an India based brand, they will benefit from lower production cost and thus, could undercut both the products by a considerable margin.

Few reports also claim that the brand could retain the nameplate and call their new car ‘Mahindra Rexton’ for India. It will undoubtedly stay identical to the Ssangyong version, keeping the impressive front fascia alive for tough competition. Chances of an XUV500 inspired grill are also equal.

The global variant is highly equipped, carrying 360 degree camera, projector lights, Nappa leather interior, cooled seats and much more as standard. It uses a 7-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. No car of this segment comes with this camera setup and thus, Mahindra could skip this feature for better cost placement.

A sunroof and few other safety features will help them make some space for XUV700. Mahindra will use the powerful 2.2L, four cylinder diesel motor producing 187 HP and 420 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

Mahindra is India’s best selling UV brand and buyers trust them for their robust quality. Trying their luck in INR 20 lakh+ segment would also make them rival Skoda and Volkswagen through Kodiaq and Tiguan in India.

Both of them are the slowest selling products. Mahindra XUV700 could get a price tag of around INR 24 lakh. This makes it much better when compared with Toyota Fortuner at INR 27.80 lakh and Ford Endeavour at 25.65 lakh. All prices mentioned here are ex-showroom Delhi.
