New Mahindra Thar AX Spotted for the First Time: The much-awaited 2021 Mahindra Thar SUV was officially unveiled back on August 15 this year. The all-new model will be available to the customers in two versions: AX (Adventure Series) and LX (Luxury/Lifestyle Series). But at the time of official unveiling, Mahindra only showcased the more premium LX series and didn’t unveil the AX series of the SUV. All thanks to Qadir Tamim, as he has managed to reveal the first-ever photos of the new Mahindra Thar AX.
According to Qadir, who shared these photos on his Instagram account, this was the first private preview of new Thar (AX model). In comparison to the LX model, the Thar AX features a different front grille, steel wheels, a soft top, and a basic interior with less of comfort and convenience features. Unlike the 18-inch tyres on the LX model, the Mahindra Thar AX is equipped with 245/75-R16 tyres.
Coming to the interiors, the Thar AX is a 6-seater while the LX model features a 4-seat layout as standard. Some of the key features of the Thar AX include the likes of a soft top, side-facing rear seats as standard, 16-inch steel wheels, a mechanical locking differential, power windows, power steering, manual AC, central locking, and rear parking sensors. The new Mahindra Thar AX will be available in both petrol and diesel but with only a 6-speed manual gearbox.
As we reported earlier, the new Mahindra Thar will be available with two engine options: a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine and a 2.0-litre turbocharged mStallion petrol engine. The mHawk130 DOHC 16-valve diesel engine will be good for a maximum power of 130 BHP with a peak torque of 300 Nm. Coming to the petrol option, the mStallion150 T-GDi DOHC 16-valve engine will generate a maximum power of 150 BHP along with an utmost torque of 320 Nm.
