Mahindra has just debuted the Scorpio-N, a new generation variant of the Scorpio. It has also been confirmed that they will sell the new Scorpio-N alongside the previous generation model, which will be dubbed Scorpio Classic. As a result, besides working on the next-generation Scorpio, Mahindra is also working on giving the older vehicles a minor facelift.
The latest spy images, credited to automobile enthusiast Ganesh, show the SUV in an almost naked form. Given the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio Classic, it is safe to infer that visual changes to the old Scorpio will be minor. The forthcoming Scorpio Classic is based on the third facelift of the first-generation Scorpio, which was released in 2014. The front grille resembles the future Scorpio-N and will have Mahindra’s new twin peaks emblem in the centre.
The overlapping chequered grille with tiny chrome vertical slats on angled horizontal strips has replaced the characteristic mesh grille. The front bumper has also been changed to be more durable, with several thin slats for the air dam. Instead of the ORVM, they have mounted the side indicator on the front fender.
The test mule seen in this recent spy image is most likely a high-spec version, as it sports new alloy wheels and projector headlights. A flat tailgate, roof-mounted spoiler, roof rails, flared wheel arches and vertically stacked LED taillamps are among the other highlights.
Scorpio Classic will be available in only a few trims of the present Mahindra Scorpio. Scorpio is now available in five trim levels: S3 Plus, S5, S7, S9, and S11. It is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with two tuning options: 120 PS/280 Nm and 140 PS/319 Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox handles transmission duties on the lower-spec tune, while a 6-speed automatic gearbox is available on the higher-spec tune.
