The much-anticipated MY2021 Mahindra XUV500 has been spotted testing once again, this time in a new set of high-resolution spy photos. The images have been clicked by Vinayak Basavaraj at Hubli, Karnataka. As revealed by the person testing the SUV, the official launch would be taking place around Diwali this year, in November.
Earlier, the new-gen XUV500 was expected to launch in April-May this year but due to the current semiconductor shortage in the auto industry, the production of a lot of vehicles is being affected. The reason waiting periods are increasing and the new vehicle launches have been postponed. The interiors of the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 have also received several changes like twin horizontal mounted screens, one for the infotainment system and the second one is the instrument cluster. Other key features include a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, a dual-zone climate control system, a flat-bottom steering wheel, USB charging ports and a separate selector for the connected car system.
The 2021 XUV500 would be powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine which is expected to generate a max output of 190hp power and the other option would a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine which is expected to develop a maximum power figure of 180hp. Both the engines would come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard along with an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Mahindra was planning to launch a total of 8 new SUVs in 2021, with the new engine and transmission options but India is lacking the key components parts extending the deadline for launches and causing a huge loss to Mahindra and a lot of other car manufacturers as well.
