Mahindra Scorpio-N recently made its official debut in the country. The SUV was launched in the Indian markets with a starting price of Rs 11.99 lakhs for the base petrol manual variant while the top-spec diesel 4WD automatic variant was available for Rs 23.90 lakhs. After getting a heavy price hike this month, the Scorpio-N is now available with a starting ex-showroom price tag of Rs 12.74 lakhs.
The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom and these introductory prices are applicable for the first 25,000 bookings. The homegrown carmaker has made some significant cosmetic and feature changes to the Scorpio to give nip-and-tuck competition to the rest of the SUVs in the segment. This is the second model in the company’s portfolio to get the new butterfly logo that adds to its magnetism.
Here is the complete price list for the Mahindra Scorpio-N model:
In its new avatar, the SUV looks enticing with its six vertical slats front grille having the Mahindra logo in the centre, chrome accents all over the body, a bold front facade and a simple yet classy rear profile. In other words, the maker has presented the Scorpio N with a completely new appearance compared to its predecessors. It needs to be mentioned here that the old model of Scorpio will also be sold along with the new-gen model under the name “Scorpio Classic”.
Not only the exterior, but the interior of the new-gen Scorpio also gets a fantastic job done by the design and styling experts at Mahindra. The SUV comes with a host of advanced features like a fully digital instrument cluster, dual front and rear camera, a wireless charger, a multifunction steering wheel, a jewel knob for driving modes, a large instrument cluster, second-row captain seats, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with inbuilt navigation.
Some of the key infotainment system features include Amazon Alexa built-in, what3words (w3w) – Alexa enabled, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto TM, Sony 3D Immersive Audio with 12 speakers and a dual-channel subwoofer.
Under the hood, the big daddy of the SUVs gets two engine options – a 2.2L diesel engine and a 2.0L petrol engine. The 2.0L mStallion turbo-petrol engine is capable of generating 200 HP of power along with 370 Nm of torque when paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and 380 Nm if you choose the 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Coming to the 2.2L mHawk diesel engine, it is available in two states of tune. The low-end option generates 130 HP of maximum power and 300 Nm of peak torque, while the top-end option is good for 172 HP of maximum power. Like the petrol engine option, the high-end diesel engine option also generates two values of maximum torque – 370 Nm with a 6-speed gearbox and 400 Nm with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Talking about the safety features, Mahindra Scorpio-N comes equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control (TC), hill hold & descent control, ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), 6 airbags, vehicle dynamic control, roll-over mitigation, brake disc wiping, electronic brake prefill, ISOFIX, and i-SIZE compatibility.
Mahindra Scorpio-N is also available with a very advanced 4×4 system known as 4XPLOR. Based on the level of traction on the surface, the SUV’s onboard computer will automatically activate or deactivate the 4×4 system, but it can also be controlled manually.
The 4×4 model of the Scorpio-N comes with 2 transfer cases – 4H and 4L and drivers can manually choose one of them via dedicated buttons. There’s also a dedicated differential lock making this SUV kind of a proper off-roader. The 4×4 model also gets four terrain modes – Normal, Grass/Gravel/ Snow, Mud/Rut, and Sand.
