Mahindra TUV300 facelift has started reaching the dealerships ahead of the official launch event. The updated model will be available in five different variants and now, the highlights have grown to the all-time max with the inclusion of gloss black and chrome on the front grill. The car was first introduced in 2015 and since then, the brand has tried numerous upgrades to keep the car in compliance to the compact SUV segment. The other options available in this segment are more glamorous, efficient and practical than the TUV300 while this one offers robust all-terrain usability with a practical SUV feel.
The sales number was never that high for the SUV but, efforts from Mahindra never went down. They have even showcased multiple modified versions from their own customization arm. The updated TUV300 comes with the 100 HP, 1.5L diesel engine with 240 Nm of maximum torque. The number is small in comparison to the Tata Nexon as it produces 260 Nm with much lower kerb weight on offer. Still, the rear wheel drive layout of TUV300 makes it exclusive in front of all the options. Also, the commanding seating position and the high bonnet is seen only on the Mahindra TUV300.
The variants will be named as T4+, T6+, T8, T10, and T10+. The AMT gearbox available with the car will not be offered on the updated 2019 variant. The same gearbox was listed under many issues as owners were not satisfied with its performance. The update may look smaller than usual but Mahindra must have made some internal changes to make the new TUV300 safer than the last version. The upcoming crash test norms will require the addition of many features to the Indian cars and options like Thar will not be able to pass the same without getting a complete overhaul.
