Maruti Vitara Brezza Diesel vs Hyundai Venue Diesel: Hyundai Venue is a direct rival to Maruti Vitara Brezza, targeting the most selling product in its own territory in 2019. The latter is only available in diesel engine and thus, the five-digit sales number is under the fear of downfall after the introduction of the Hyundai Venue.
The compact SUV segment also has Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V, Mahindra XUV300, and Ford EcoSport as the challengers but, all of them register a considerable chunk of sales through the petrol engine options. Hyundai Venue diesel is powered by a reliable 1396cc, four-cylinder diesel motor producing 90HP of peak power and 220Nm of max torque. Being a diesel engine, all the fun stays under the 4000 rpm limit on the car.
Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1248cc four-cylinder diesel engine and the torque value is 20Nm lesser in comparison to the Hyundai Venue. The 90HP maximum power stays the same between both the cars while delivery is different due to the use of 6-speed gearbox on the Venue and 5-speed gearbox on the Vitara Brezza. The design lines on the Vitara Brezza are focused to bring bulk to the car while Venue comes with sharp lines and impressive front fascia to offer a unique position for itself.
Hyundai Venue diesel is more powerful, stylish and undoubtedly, more safe with a 6-airbag shield on the top-spec variant. The safety features on the Vitara Brezza are limited to just two airbags while reverse parking camera can be had on the top-spec variant. Hyundai Venue and Maruti Vitara Brezza are both available with black interiors and silver highlights, with both the cars having the same 2500mm wheelbase and under-4m length.
The biggest design highlight for the Venue is the split headlight design. No other car of the sub-4m segment features the same design philosophy in India. The next car with such expressions is the new Tata Harrier. The Hyundai Venue diesel is expected to be priced between INR 9-12 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is available with a starting price tag of INR 7.65 lakh and the top-spec variant with dual-tone paint is available for INR 10.68 lakh (ex-showroom).
