Maruti recently discontinued several S-Presso variants. Then we discovered that S-Presso sales had reached an all-time low in June 2022. After averaging over 5,000 units per month, S-Presso sales fell to around 600 units last month. Some speculated that this was due to Maruti discontinuing S-Presso, but this is not the case.
Sales were down last month because Maruti Suzuki India was preparing to launch an updated S-Presso. Maruti launched the 2022 S-Presso recently with prices starting at Rs 4.25 lakh ex-showroom. The new S-Presso is available in four models, all of which have a manual transmission. AMT is available on the top two variants, the VXI and VXI+.
Surprisingly, the new 2022 S-Presso lacks a CNG variant. It will almost certainly be released later. S-Presso was previously available in four CNG variants: LXI, LXI (O), VXI, and VXI (O). Because it now has many new features and an updated engine that provides more mileage, the new S-prices Presso’s have increased by up to 15.12 per cent.
The Next Generation K-Series 1.0L Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine with Idle-Start-Stop technology powers the new S-Presso. This engine has a maximum power output of 66 horsepower and a peak torque of 89 Newton meters. It gets 25.30 km/l in Vxi(O)/Vxi+(O) AGS, 24.76 km/l in Vxi/Vxi+ MT, and 24.12 km/l in Std/Lxi MT. AGS has a 17% higher fuel efficiency, while MT has a nearly 14% higher fuel efficiency.
The 2022 Maruti S-PRESSO now has dual airbags, pre-tensioner and force limiter front seatbelts, a high-speed alert system, ABS with EBD, and reverse parking sensors are also standard in all variants, as is ESP (Electronic Stability Program) with HHA (Hill Hold Assist) in AGS variants.
