Maruti Suzuki introduced its most-awaited hatchback in the country back on November 10, 2021. The new-gen model of Celerio is now available in the market with a starting price tag of Rs 5.25 lakhs (ex-showroom). Offered in four trims and seven variants, the all-new Celerio is all set to compete with the likes of the Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago. Here is the complete information related to its features and variants.
Maruti Suzuki’s new Celerio is built on the HEARTECT platform. The same platform supports the Baleno, Ertiga, S-Presso, WagonR, and a few more cars in the brand’s lineup. The second-gen Celerio looks quite different from the previous model. While the previous version had a very clean style, the new one features a lot of curved stylistic elements while still looking clearly like a Maruti Suzuki car.
The all-new Celerio has also grown in size. It has the same length of 3,695mm and a height of 1,555mm, but the breadth has risen by a remarkable 55mm at 1,655mm. The wheelbase has also increased by 10mm and now stands at 2,435mm. Because of the extended wheelbase, the car has additional cabin room. As a result, the boot capacity has also increased by around 78 litres and can now hold luggage of up to 313 litres. The ground clearance of the new model has also increased from 165mm to 170mm.
Looking at the interior updates, it is now equipped with a redesigned dashboard, centre console, and a new steering wheel. The base ‘LXi’ trim comes standard with a manual air conditioner, an idle engine start-stop system, reverse parking sensors, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, day-night IRVM and more. In addition, the car is offered in six different paint schemes – Fire Red, Speedy Blue, Silky Silver, Arctic White, Glistening Grey, and Caffeine Brown.
The current-gen Celerio is offered in seven variants: LXi, VXi, VXi AMT, ZXi, ZXi AMT, ZXi+, and ZXi+ AMT. The 2022 Maruti Celerio is powered by an upgraded version of the K10 petrol engine. This K10C, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, dual jet, and dual VVT engine is capable of churning out 67 HP of max power and 89 Nm of max torque. This engine is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT transmission. Maruti will also soon release a CNG edition of the Celerio.
