Global NCAP has tested Maruti Suzuki Swift again as per their new standard. And this time it received a 1-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection.
Maruti Swift, along with Ignis, S Presso, and Scorpio N, was among the second batch of vehicles tested under Global NCAP’s stricter protocols.
The model under consideration was built in India for the domestic market. It comes with dual front airbags, rear ISOFIX anchorages, and seat belt pretensioners and reminders. GNCAP tested the current-generation Swift in its pre-facelift guise in 2018. It received a two stars rating for both adult and child occupant protection.
These ratings also apply to the Dzire compact sedan, as they share the same platform and are sibling models.
In adult occupant protection, the 2022 Swift received 19.19 points out of a possible 34 points. 6.3 points in a frontal offset deformable barrier test and 12.9 points in a side movable deformable barrier test.
The Swift received 16.68 out of a possible 49 points for child occupant protection. This includes a dynamic score of 12.82 points and a CRS installation score of 3.86 points.
The Swift has standard ISOFIX anchorages for the two outboard rear seats but not the front passenger seat. It also lacks a three-point seat belt for the rear passenger seated in the centre.
