Suzuki has been working on the new-gen Alto for quite some time, and we already reported about it when the official brochure was leaked earlier this month. Now, we have the news for you that the 2022 model Alto has been officially revealed by the brand in its home market. The ninth-gen Suzuki Alto is a Kei car, which is specially designed as a Japan-spec model as it is absolutely different from the Indian model apart from the name.
To begin with the exterior of the new Alto, the new model as compared to the previous model appears softer and rounder, but it keeps the boxy design and dimensions the same as the latter. Upfront, the new Alto gets quadrilateral headlights identical to the eighth-gen model, which was introduced in 2014 but now comes with new elements. The bumper, grille, and hood are missing the acute edge of the older model, though. Looking at the rear end, there are new bumpers, a new tailgate, as well as a new upstanding taillight available now.
On the inside of the car, the dashboard is also revamped and looks eccentric with its new design and colour. The AC vents are equivalent to the previous model both in appearance and positioning. The exclusive update includes the new steering wheel, a tidily integrated infotainment system, and a new instrument console that offers a plethora of useful information. Moreover, the major add-on is the driver’s assist under Suzuki safety support, which offers services like lane departure warning, forward collision prevention, high-beam assist, and AEB with pedestrian detection.
In terms of powertrain, the new 2022 Alto is powered by a 660cc, three-cylinder petrol engine which is mated with a 5-speed manual or automatic gearbox. However, the power figures are not revealed by the brand yet. Speaking of something new in the mechanics of the car, it will be equipped with mild-hybrid technology with an incorporated starter generator and a small lithium-ion battery pack to store energy.
