The 2022 Maruti Suzuki WagonR was introduced in the Indian market in January last year. Several changes were made to the style, technology, comfort, safety, and performance. However, in Japan, the WagonR has received a facelift for the 2023 model year. Changes have also been made to the WagonR Stingray and WagonR Custom Z models, in addition to the standard model of the car. Here are the complete details on the new model of Japan-spec Suzuki WagonR.
A reworked front fascia with revisions to the front grille and front bumper is one of the primary characteristics of the WagonR facelift. The WagonR Custom Z model receives a similar set of upgrades, all while maintaining the tiny passenger car’s distinct look.
Japan-spec WagonR sports a digital instrument cluster that comes standard with a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system and the Suzuki Connect communication platform. Front seat SRS side airbags, SRS curtain airbags, vehicle speed tracking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure suppression, and pedestrian recognition at night are among the safety enhancements.
The standard WagonR facelift includes ten new colour options and WagonR Stingray and WagonR Custom Z are available in six and eight colour variations, respectively. Users will have a more personalised experience with the new colour options.
Japan-spec WagonR is powered by a 660cc engine available in both NA petrol and mild hybrid configurations. This engine is available in Turbo form with Stingray and Custom Z. A 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT are available as transmission options along with two drivetrain options: 2WD and 4WD. The mild-hybrid powertrain in conjunction with the CVT transmission achieves the highest fuel efficiency.
This facelift is quite unlikely to see the light of day in India because it will only be available in Japan. In Japan, the 2023 Suzuki WagonR Facelift costs between 1,217,700 and 1,509,200 yen (Rs 7.22 lakh to Rs 8.96 lakh). In comparison, the WagonR Stingray is priced between 1,688,500 and 1,811,700 yen (Rs 10 lakh to Rs 10.75 lakh). The WagonR Custom Z variant is priced between 1,474,000 and 1,756,700 yen (Rs 8.75 lakh to Rs 10.43 lakh).
