New 7-Seater Maruti SUV in the Works: As per the latest buzz, Maruti Suzuki with a purpose to increase its overall market share is planning to launch a 7-seater SUV that is likely to get the Vitara branding. Since Maruti has discontinued all of its diesel engines after the implementation of the BS6 emission norms, the brand feels obligated to offer more to its customers to remain ahead in the game.
Since all the Maruti’s top competitors have upgraded their diesel engines to meet the BS6 emission norms, launching an all-new SUV will be one of the wisest steps taken by the brand to maintain its market share in India. Expected to be based on the HEARTECT platform, the upcoming 7-Seater Maruti SUV will feature a three-row seating architecture.
The brand is expected to offer the upcoming SUV with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine which will be good a maximum power of 103 HP at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 138 Nm at 4400 rpm. The 1.5L engine from Maruti Suzuki has been known to offer optimum performance in addition to offering an unrivalled driving experience.
The recent report suggests that the upcoming 7-seater Maruti SUV will be unveiled by the brand in 2021. The brand currently uses the Vitara branding for three of its cars which includes the Vitara Brezza, Grand Vitara that was launched in India in 2003 in addition to the international-spec Vitara SUV.
Once launched in India, the 7-seater Maruti Suzuki is expected to compete with the likes of the most-dominating SUVs in the Indian market like Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier and more. The brand is also expected to unveil an electric SUV in the coming months by the name Futuro-E though there has been no official confirmation received on the same.
