As per the latest details available, the 7-Seater Maruti WagonR will launch in India by end 2020 or early 2021. The prototype version of the car has been recently spotted testing on the outskirts of New Delhi. The production of this compact people mover will be handled by the Gujarat facility of Maruti Suzuki. The launch of the new 7-Seater Maruti WagonR will create a new segment in India as pricing it between INR 6-7 lakh will allow buyers to choose this one in place of Eeco.
People who were planning for Ertiga petrol could also consider WagonR 7-Seater for once, slightly compromising on the comfort and the rear legroom. Maruti will use the same platform as the regular WagonR and thus, the current safety norms will be followed with full effect on the new 7-seat version.
The new car will feature three rows of seating and that too with front-facing seats on all three of them. To keep the added weight away from the ground, Maruti will offer 7-seat WagonR with more ground clearance and added features.
Like the 5-seat model of WagonR, the interior will feature dual-tone black and beige finish while features like remote control central locking and power steering will help the users enjoy driving this car all around with ease.
The 7-Seater Maruti WagonR will measure under 4 meter in length and will compete in the market with none other than Datsun Go+ in India. It will benefit from Maruti’s large dealership network and one of the recent reports hint that the 7-seat WagonR will retail from the NEXA stores.
Datsun Go+ is a capable product but the brand has not been able to sell it in good numbers as last row seats are too cramped in comparison to bigger cars. They can only be used by children and thus, it can give an edge to Maruti WagonR 7-Seater over its primary rival. The upcoming car will carry ABS and dual front airbags as standard. Mechanically, the 7-seat WagonR will be powered by the same 1.2L petrol engine, which is good for 82HP of maximum power and 113NM of maximum torque.
