BS6 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been officially launched in India with a starting price tag of INR 7.55 Lakh. The BSVI-compliant Ertiga MPV is the fifth Maruti model to receive a BSVI update before the implementation of the new emission norms that will be in effect from April 1, 2020. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Baleno, Alto, and Swift are the other products from the brand’s portfolio to get the updated BSVI-compliant petrol engine.
The prices for the BS6 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga start at INR 7.55 lakh for the base LXi trim while the price range goes all the way up to INR 10.50 lakh for the top-spec ZXi automatic variant. The costs required for the up-gradation of the engine has made the MPV INR 10,000 costlier than the base price of the BS4-compliant model while the price hike goes all the way up to INR 55,000 for the highest-spec model.
The BS6 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine capable of churning out a maximum power of 105HP and a peak torque of 138Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the brand is also offering the MPV with a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Maruti Suzuki has also equipped the 1.5-litre BSVI-compliant petrol engine on the Ertiga with SVHS (mild hybrid system) technology that in turn offers better fuel efficiency.
The brand recently also launched the CNG-powered variant of the Ertiga MPV. It is India’s first-ever MPV to feature factory-fitted CNG kit and is priced at INR 8.88 lakh (ex-showroom). One of the most anticipated products from the brand, the upcoming XL6 crossover will be also based on the underpinnings of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
The XL6, an all-new premium crossover from the brand is expected to be launched in India on August 21, 2019. The customers will be able to avail the XL6 at Maruti’s NEXA dealerships. The brand is highly likely to launch the XL6 with a BSVI-compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine.
