Ahead of the official launch on 5th August, the BS6 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross has been spotted in a new set of live photos. Initially, the S-Cross was available in the Indian markets with two diesel engine options: 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre. After a few months from the official launch, Maruti Suzuki discontinued the 1.6-litre DDIS 200 engine option due to poor sales numbers.
Before the implementation of BS6 emission norms, Maruti announced that they will stop selling diesel cars in India, and as a result, the S-Cross 1.3L diesel was also discontinued after the implementation of BS6 emission norms in India on April 1, 2020.
As a replacement for the 1.3-litre diesel engine, most of the top-spec Maruti Suzuki cars are now powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine, which was recently also introduced in the 2020 model of the Vitara Brezza compact SUV.
Like the 1.5L Vitara Brezza, the BS6 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will also be good for a maximum power of 103HP at 6000 rpm along with 138Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm. It will come paired to a 5-speed manual transmission along with an optional 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
In terms of design, the BS6-compliant model of the S-Cross stays more or less the same as the BS4 model. Some of the key features of the car include machine-cut alloy wheels (black and chrome), LED tail lights, soft feel dashboard, piano black centre console, black leather central armrest, and a Maruti SmartPlay infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The BS6 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross 1.5L petrol variant is expected to get a starting ex-showroom price tag of around INR 8.50 lakhs.
