Maruti Fronx (Baleno-Based SUV) Revealed At Auto Expo 2023

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is back with a bang for 2023, after a full calendar year of busy launches. The brand has showcased some of its upcoming launches at the Auto Expo 2023. It includes the Fronx coupe SUV and the five-door Jimny lifestyle off-road SUV.

The two all-new SUVs will be joined by an all-new electric SUV concept. It will preview a dedicated skateboard platform-based pure EV set to arrive in 2025. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is the new addition to the brand’s SUV portfolio. Maruti has positioned the Fronx below the Grand Vitara midsize SUV with some variants to be priced like the Brezza compact SUV.

The five-seater Fronx is built on the Heartect platform, which has been used in many Maruti Suzuki models. It shares several features with the Baleno premium hatchback, which was updated early last year. The Fronx coupe SUV is inspired by the Grand Vitara, particularly at the front. With a prominent grille section and a split headlamp cluster, the new Maruti Fronx exudes modernity.

The well-executed styling includes a sizeable central intake, a sporty front bumper, and muscular bonnet creases. The exterior features newly designed alloy wheels and a coupe-like roofline. At the same time, the interior features a dual-tone dashboard and a smartly-placed infotainment system. Maruti Suzuki Fronx (YTB) will be sold only through the Nexa premium dealership network.

Maruti Fronx will compete with sub-four-metre SUVs such as the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Tata Punch. It is expected to cost between Rs. 6 lakhs and Rs. 9.5 lakh s(ex-showroom). The interior is also more upscale, and it comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, automatic climate control, and a steering wheel with mounted controls.

Maruti Suzuki has equipped the Fronx with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that was found in the Baleno RS. It is good for 100 PS and 148 Nm. The BoosterJet gasoline engine will be available with both a manual and automatic transmission.
