The unveiling of the Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e coupe SUV concept has officially kickstarted the biggest event of the Indian automobile industry, the Auto Expo 2020. Showcased as a design study, the Futuro-e concept will act as a basis of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki models while at the same time allows the brand to foray itself into the mid-size SUV segment.
Taking the high road, the concept designers at Maruti Suzuki has pegged the Futuro-e concept with a unique Coupe SUV outlook, different from any other mid-size SUV currently available in the market. The all-new concept has been specifically designed as an “Indian car with global sensibilities’.
The rear windscreen of the car has been integrated neatly inside the bumper and it offers the SUV a sporty outlook while the addition of thick C-pillars furthers adds to its exquisite persona. The sleeker tail light design with LED strip running across further imparts it with the quirky exterior.
Other special highlights of the Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e concept includes the well-lit and distinctive LED headlight and tail lights setup, a panoramic sunroof, large wheels with unconventional alloy wheel design as well as the overall wide outlook that offers it a bulky look.
Coming to the distinctive interiors, the concept SUV has been equipped with a wide touchscreen display at the dashboard while there are numerous other displays specifically for the driver for controlling the interior function as well as adjusting the seat height or more. The brand has also offered the cabin with ambient lighting.
The brand has targeted the Futuro-e concept for multiple power trains which includes the likes of a hybrid as well as an EV, but initially, the brand will launch only the petrol-powered model of the Futuro-e SUV while a BS6-compliant diesel engine can also be on the charts.
The brand has not yet revealed any timeline for the launch of the production variant of the Maruti Suzuki Futuro-e concept though one can expect more news to follow soon. Once launched in India, the mid-size SUV from Maruti will compete in the market with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector and more.
