Maruti Jimny 5-Door Makes Official Debut in India – Details and Photos

Maruti Jimny 5-Door Makes Official Debut in India - Details and Photos

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has finally debuted the five-door Jimny at the 2023 Auto Expo. The off-roading SUV will compete against the upcoming 5-door Thar and Force Gurkha. It has larger proportions than the international three-door Jimny Sierra.

The new Jimny 5-door in India will be powered by a 1.5L K15B petrol engine. It will send power to all four wheels through Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system. This configuration also includes a manual transfer case and low range to improve off-road capabilities. For a quick comparison, both the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha are available with diesel engines.

The new Jimny retains the same front fascia, which is dominated by circular headlamps, a large multi-slot grille, and a short bumper. The side profile takes on a similar stance, with clean cuts and strong wheel arches. For those who are curious, the SUV’s wheelbase is 2,550 mm and its length is 3,850 mm.

The dashboard layout has not changed with this latest release. The Jimny keeps an all-black interior with a large touchscreen system in the centre and a semi-digital instrument console.

It features automatic climate control, operated side mirrors, steering-mounted controls, and power windows. Mahindra and Force Motors are also developing five-door versions of the Thar and Gurkha to compete with the new Jimny 5-door in the Indian market.

Maruti also displayed the new Baleno-based YTB crossover at the Auto Expo 2023. This new crossover will compete in the market against Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and Tata Punch. This crossover will offer a feature-rich and comfortable cabin. You can tap on the banner below to know more about Maruti Fronx.
