Maruti Suzuki has revised the prices of its Nexa crossover, the S-Cross. The price range for the previous models was from INR 8.61 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) to INR 11.33 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). However, the updated prices now range from INR 8.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) to INR 11.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The prices prior to the increase factored in the extended warranty too which is now added in the new price range. If someone chooses to get the additional warranty, the prices will effectively rise by INR 90,000 for the cars sold in Delhi.
When the S-Cross was launched, it was a direct rival to the Creta, albeit the segments were different. It is still cheaper than the Creta but the Creta offers its customers a choice between three engines, two in the diesel lineup and one in petrol, while on the other hand the S-Cross is offered only in a single engine option, a 1.3-liter motor sourced from Fiat. The same engine is seen in other cars as well, like the Baleno, Ciaz, DZire, Swift, and Ertiga. Media reports have hinted at the arrival of a new petrol variant for the S-Cross soon.
The petrol variant that is to be added to the S-Cross lineup will most likely be powered by the same 1.5-liter SHVS engine that is seen on the new model of Ciaz and going to be featured on the upcoming Ertiga. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 104.7 hp and a peak torque of 138 Nm. Currently, there are two transmission options that are coupled with the petrol engine, a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. These transmission options are likely to be available on the S-Cross as well. The price of the petrol model of the crossover is expected to be around INR 8.10 lakh and it will continue to undercut the Hyundai Creta as far as the price is concerned.
Old Price | New Price | |
S-Cross Sigma | INR 8.61 Lakh | INR 8.85 Lakh |
S-Cross Delta | INR 9.43 Lakh | INR 9.97 Lakh |
S-Cross Zeta | INR 9.99 Lakh | INR 10.45 Lakh |
