Maruti S-Presso, the most anticipated SUV-inspired hatchback from India’s leading carmaker has been officially launched by the brand at a starting price tag of INR 3.69 lakh (ex-showroom). Changing the course of the automobile sector with its micro-SUV look, the S-Presso will co-exist with the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 in the brand’s portfolio. The recently unveiled hatchback from Maruti competes in the market with the likes of Renault Kwid.
Coming to the design language, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso gets a boxy silhouette with a Jimny inspired silver-brushed front grille that is further mated to large headlamps setup. The brand has equipped the hatchback with plastic cladding at the lower half while the upright nose and angular wheel arches further add to its unique styling. The hatchback features a dual-tone bumper with C-shaped tail lights at the rear. The taller stance offered to the S-Presso adds more room to the cabin.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso measures 3,565mm in length, 1,520mm in width and 1,549mm in height while the wheelbase of the hatchback stands at 2,380mm. The micro-SUV insisted look offers the S-Presso an increased height of 86mm when compared to its closest competitor, Renault Kwid. the hatchback gets a fuel tank capacity of 27 litres while the ground clearance stands at 180mm.
In terms of interior, the hatchback features an all-black upholstery as well as fabric seats. The brand has equipped the S-Presso with MINI-inspired centrally-mounted instrument console, power windows at the front and dual front airbags for the top-end variants.
Coming to the engine specifications, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso features a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre three-cylinder K10B petrol engine that is capable of churning out a maximum power of 67HP and a peak torque of 90Nm. The engine is further mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the customers can also avail an AMT gearbox with the hatchback.
The customers can avail the S-Presso in four variants namely: Standard, LXi, VXi and VXi+, which are further divided into 6 trims. The hatchback has started reaching the dealerships while deliveries are expected to commence from next month.
