Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming hatchback, the S-Presso, is all set to be launched in India later this month. Ahead of its official launch, the car has been recently spied undisguised, offering the Indian audience a clear insight into its design dynamics. Based on the Future S concept, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso features an upright stance. Apart from this, the hatchback has no features matching the Future S concept that was initially unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso further features a square-ish front end design with a high-placed bonnet. The hatchback gets a Vitara Brezza-inspired chrome grille at the front that has been mated to halogen headlights flowing towards the back. The micro-SUV look of the S-Presso is further enhanced by body cladding at the sides. In addition to this, the brand has equipped the hatchback with LED DRLs at the front for offering it a premium look.
The hatchback has turn indicators mounted on the front fenders while the design language also features a blacked-out B-pillar and steel wheels with full wheel covers. The 180mm of ground clearance offers the high-riding hatchback an authentic Renault Kwid like stance. The hatchback will be positioned in Maruti’s portfolio above the Alto K10 as it gets an increased length by 20mm as compared to the latter. The S-Presso measures 3,565mm in length and 1,564mm in height and it stands tall as compared to both Kwid and the Alto K10.
Powering the upcoming hatchback will be a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder K10B petrol engine that will be BS6-complaint. The current-gen K10B engine is good for a maximum power of 68HP and a peak torque of 90Nm. The upcoming hatchback from Maruti will be available to the customers with a 5-speed manual gearbox though one can also avail the AMT version of the same. Sold via the Maruti’s Arena outlets, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is likely to launch with a price tag of around INR 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
