Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, the upcoming hatchback from the brand is expected to launch in India on September 30, 2019. The earlier reports offered the key details of the hatchback in addition to a close up image that clearly defines the S-Presso in all its glory. Now, a report by ACI also confirms the multiple variants, as well as the various features offered to the new hatchback from the largest carmaker in India.
As per the latest spy images of the car, the compact and upright profile of the hatchback continues towards the rear section as well. The rear panel of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso features C-shaped tail lamps that have been mated to the turn indicators at either side.
The increased height of the hatchback in addition to the tall pillars further improves the ground clearance. The sporty stance of the SUV-inspired hatchback is further accentuated by a notable black rear bumper as well as the black window lines and the reflectors. The thick black side claddings give the boxy hatchback a rather neat look.
The customers can avail the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso in four variants namely: Standard, LXi, VXi, and highest-spec VXI+ variant. The brand is offering ABS, driver-side airbag, seat belt reminders, rear parking sensors as well as a speed alert system with every variant of the hatchback as standard. Apart from these, the entry-level variant of the hatchback lacks all the premium bits.
The mid-spec LXi variant of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso has been further equipped with a manual AC in addition to power steering. The VXi variant, on the other hand, gets all the premium features including keyless entry, front power windows, body-coloured bumpers and wheel covers as well as Maruti’s SmartPlay infotainment system.
The VXi+ high-spec variant will further feature a 7.0-inch touchscreen display, steering mounted controls, body-coloured ORVMs, 12-volt accessory socket, front passenger airbag and more. Apart from the availability of a reverse camera and the alloy wheels, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso features the same electronic bits as that of its direct rival, the Renault KWID.
Powering the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will be the brand’s BS6-compliant K10B engine. The 1.0-litre petrol engine is capable of churning out a maximum power of 68HP and a peak torque of 90Nm. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the customers can avail the VXi and VXi+ variant with AMT transmission as well.
The BS6-compliant version of the K10B engine would be less fuel-efficient in comparison to the BS4-compliant unit, which is good for 23.95 kmpl. When launched in India, Maruti is expected to price the S-Presso in a range of INR 3.50-4.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
