Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Micro SUV Spotted Testing in India

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Micro SUV Spotted Testing in India

Amidst the downfall in sales for the majority of automakers in India, Maruti Suzuki is the one on a launching spree. In addition to the much-anticipated XL6 MPV that will be launched in India in a few days, the brand will also be introducing its entry-level micro SUV by the name S-Presso this festive season.

The micro SUV from the brand is based on the Future-S concept which was initially unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo. The production version of the S-Presso has been spotted testing several times over the past few days. The recently leaked pictures give us a clear view of the rear and front profile of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso.

The all-new offering from the brand will feature an SUV-inspired design language while it will be placed above the Maruti WagonR in the brand’s portfolio. The S-Presso will be sold via the Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships.

Specifically designed keeping in mind the needs of the Indian roads, the upcoming car is the second vehicle after Vitara Brezza that has been designed and developed by the Indian arm of the brand. Though the test vehicle is heavily camouflaged in the spy photos, one can easily recognise the premium LED treatment offered to the headlights and tail lights. The LED headlamps will be accompanied by LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs).

In terms of interiors, there haven’t been any specific details revealed to date. One can expect Maruti to feature the car with a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will get a standard safety kit including the dual airbags at the front, seat belt reminders, rear parking sensors and more.

S-Presso

Coming to the engine specifications, the S-Presso is likely to get the 1.2-litre petrol engine that does duty on the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. The brand will be launching the micro SUV with a BS6-compliant engine. The S-Presso is likely to be based on Maruti’s HEARTECT platform, which will help the micro SUV get a lightweight profile, further being perfect for the youngsters. Once launched in India, the Maruti S-Presso will be competing in the market with the likes of Renault Triber and Mahindra KUV100 NXT.
