Maruti Suzuki Ertiga GT could be the next big thing for the Indian market. The model was recently unveiled, clearly showing how the addition of body panels can result in a sporty overall profile for the car. The powerful presence reached the higher eye-catching level as the car was spotted in Black as well as Red shade for the GT moniker. The premium black finish is further complemented by the tinted glass for all the windows (not allowed in India), red inserts at carefully planned points and unique front grille with black overall finish.
Suzuki Ertiga GT comes with front and rear bumper extensions, side skirts and a sporty rear spoiler that improves the profile from an everyday wagon to a sporty seven-seat car. The front of the car comes with projector headlights with chrome inserts and black fog lamp surrounds. The side profile looks great with the matching black alloy wheels with more spokes than any available pattern around the segment.
The official unveiling for the car took place in Indonesia, where sales will start before any other market. The new Ertiga will soon be available in a 6-seat and 7-seat variant, further getting the BS6-ready 1.5L diesel engine that Maruti plans to use in all their cars in the coming months. The discontinuation of the 1.3L diesel engine by Fiat in March 2020 has forced manufacturers to consider different options.
Many of them will even scrap the diesel variants for the entry-level cars in the country. However, the price difference in products with above 4-meter length and the compact segment will be stretched with the latter getting just petrol options. Ertiga GT could feature the 1.5L diesel for the first time and hence, the launch may not happen as fast as expected for the Indonesian market. The 1.5L petrol engine with 103 HP of maximum power will stay the same on every variant.
